Encouraging Your Child to Drink Milk

self-study-habits

Milk is the primary source of many vital nutrients which aid in your child’s growth and development. It needs to be an important part of your child’s diet as it is a healthy way to get some of the essential vitamins that your growing kid needs.

If your child finds excuses to drink his/her milk or dislikes milk, forcing him/her to drink milk is not a solution.  But then giving up on milk is also not an ideal decision to take either.

To begin with, you will first have to figure out a couple of things as to why your child dislikes milk and then plan accordingly:

  • Does your child dislike the taste of milk?

If the taste of milk isn’t pleasing to him/her, you can add flavours to your child’s milk such as strawberry, chocolate, honey, vanilla essence, etc. You can also try giving him/her milkshakes, blending milk with different fruits like banana, apple, mango, chiku, etc.

  • Is your child the only one drinking milk at home?

If milk isn’t a part of your diet, your child is likely to stay away from milk as well. You’re his/her role model and so, you too need to develop the habit of drinking milk regularly, to encourage your child to drink it too.

  • Is your child bored with his baby “sippy” cup?

Get your child some attractive cups and straws to make drinking milk more fun and appealing to your child.

You can also try almond or soy milk, it is just as healthy as regular milk or try including other milk products in his/her diet. Remember, don’t pressure your child or force him/her to drink milk.
