A to Z of Summer Fun
T of Summer Fun : SUMMER TRAVEL TIPS

A long family car trip seems shorter if you have fun with your kids along the way. It's always important to take care of your health, but there are additional concerns to keep in mind when you're traveling.

Here are some tips to keep your travel experience healthy and safe during summer trips:

Be sure to perform required maintenance on your vehicle. Check coolant level, headlights, brake lights, oil, and make sure that tires are properly inflated.
Always make sure that car seats are properly installed and are appropriate for your child.
Make sure that you wear comfortable clothes and footwear.
Pack lots of snacks, such as fruit, juice packs, biscuits and water.

Pack plenty of clean-up materials:

• Tissues-travel-size boxes
• Paper towels
• Anti-bacterial hand cleaner
• Plastic trash bags

Keep a fully-stocked First Aid kit in the vehicle.
Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle, even with the window slightly open.
Drive calmly and avoid confrontation with aggressive drivers. Obey speed limits and all roadway signs.
Do not drive and multi-task. Eating, texting, talking on the phone, and applying make-up while driving can have harmful consequences.
Make sure someone close to you knows your itinerary and check in with them to let them know you've arrived safely.
Play some games like The Number Plate Game or The Alphabet Game with your little ones to pass the time.
