Splashdown |
| Hot summer days call for fun water games, and splashdown is fun for kids of all ages. It is sponge throw game with excessive giggling and soaked clothing. |
 |
Items needed: small plastic buckets, large car sponges and water.
Give each child a bucket filled with water and a sponge. Position the child about 6 feet apart with the buckets in front of them. The trick is to throw your sponge into the opposing player's bucket filled with water and splash them. Each splashdown is worth one point. The player who gets more points wins.

Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest: |
| Watermelon is one of many classic summertime foods, and you can use it to feed and entertain your children. |
 |
Cut up a large watermelon and give each child a slice. Make a line on the sidewalk or in the garden. As each child takes a bite of watermelon and gets a seed, have him step up to the line and try to spit the seed as far as possible. Kids will enjoy being able to spit for fun without getting in trouble, and you can award prizes for the, most creative, messiest or longest spit.

Sharks and Fish |
| Play this game with small children where one child becomes the "shark" . |
| When she says, "Fishy, fishy, cross the ocean," all the other children run from one place to another, while the shark tries to tag someone. Once someone is tagged, she gets to join the shark to tag other children. The last fish to be tagged gets to be the shark in the next game. |

Penny Spoon Race |
| Mark the start and finish lines. Count the number of pennies it takes to fill a spoon, and place that many pennies per player in a bowl. |
 |
Give a spoon to each child and fill it with the specified amount of pennies. After the referee calls Ready, Get Set, Go, children compete towards the finish line. If a penny falls from a spoon, the child has to stop, pick up the coin, and put it back onto the spoon before continuing. The first kid to cross the finish line with a full spoon wins. |

Head Balancing Relay |
| Make a team of 2 children. Each team has a balancing book, which is placed on the bare head of runner on relay. |
After the first runner returns from the turning point, the book is passed on to the next behind the starting line. The runner is allowed to hold the book, but if it falls, it must be picked at the spot and replaced.
The team finishing first wins. |
