Jack and Jill,
went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down
and broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after.
Their are many different stories to the origin of this
poem. One says that Jack and Jill were originally Hjuki
and Bil, and the moon captured them while they were
filling water from the well. The markings on the moon
are said to be of the two boys and the bucket in between
them !! ..so check out the moon today !
Another says that it represents two kings, one English
and the other French, who went to war, which resulted in
large scale losses. The people hated them so much that
they made this poem to make fun of them !
hmm... wonder why they didn't call it jack and
john...but i guess that wouldn't rhyme with hill, right
?!! ..
