- 18 months is the push pull stage
- 18 months old is into everything
- He is indeed a busy body
- At this age the child is run about
- He lugs, dumps, pushes, pulls, pounds
- no is his chief word
- The child does not readily take no for an answer,
but no is his most frequent used word
- He cannot stand any frustration
- He grasps only now
- The child tends to grab what falls within reach of
his hands
- He definitely wants now what he wants : he cannot
wait
- He seldom obeys any verbal command
- The child cannot do things just to please others
- The child is anxious to push and pull his carriage
and cart rather than ride in them
- He is something of a furniture mover
- The child has a strong urge to shift the furniture
about and pull things like telephone etc.
- The child likes to walk backward
- He even pulls his carriage backward
- When you ask him to come here, he runs to the
opposite direction or stands still, or walks backwards
- He takes objects out of drawers
- When you ask him to put something in the
wastebasket, he is more likely to empty it
- Give him a second sock to put on, he is likely to
pull of the other one
- He likes to complete a situation as soon as he is
given the run of the house
- He never stays in one place for long for one moment
- He hugs his doll, drops it and picks up the
magazine, tears out a page, gets up and runs over to
finger the light plug, next goes to empty the waste
basket and so on.
